The CLINCH Festival

will take place for the second time in the Cultural Center Pavillon in Hanover/Germany from 1^st to 4^th of November 2018.

With the festival we try to strengthen postcolonial and [post]migrant perspectives in society. In Hanover, the discourse on migration is shaped especially by concepts of integration, insinuating some kind of (cultural) otherness in the way of thinking about migrants and their descendants and black people. A postcolonial and antiracist discourse which reflects power relations and identity formation within a context of history and processes of discrimination can only be found in universities and small subcultures.

We’d like the festival not just to reproduce the state of affairs but to give impulses and inspiration for the postcolonial and [post]migrant scene in Germany. We hope to achieve this kind of inspiration by bringing together people, and sometimes controversial positions. We wish both, artistic and political interventions. To reach a wide range of people, the festival will include different genres: films, readings, discussions, music, exhibition, workshops etc. We also want to create an atmosphere for exchange and for getting to know each other.
